Coshocton Elementary Student Council held an Ugly Christmas Sweater competition. The response was overwhelming with SO many great sweaters! But, as in all things, we had to choose 3 top winners. In 3rd place was 6th grader Andrea Fry, in 2nd place was Preschooler Brantley Williams and in 1st place was 4th grader Liam Slaughter! Congrats to our top 3 winners. Each winner received a stocking full of goodies and an ornament for their tree designating their winning status with the year. Again, congrats to all the winners and thank you to all who participated!

“It came without ribbons, it came without tags. It came without packages, boxes, or bags.” — The Grinch On dress as a Grinch day, Coshocton Elementary School opened their hearts and donated 7,424 cans of food to the Salvation Army food bank. Student Council organized the food drive that took place over an 8 day period of time. Students collected, counted and boxed each and every item. At the end of every day, an announcement was made telling which classroom was the top giver of the day and an Elf on the Shelf was placed in front of each door with the most cans in the grade level. It was a spirit of fun and competition. Three top winners came out and will receive a treat according to which place they came in. Third place with 619 cans was 4th grade Ms. Jaynes’s class. Second place with 690 cans was 1st grade Mrs. Lawson’s room and coming in first with 1139 cans was 4th grade Mr. Tristano’s class. Student Council will donate the prizes for each class which will be an ice cream sandwich party for 3rd place, a doughnut party for 2nd place and a pizza party for 1st place. Many thanks for the hours of work collecting, counting and boxing all of the cans goes to each and every student council member. The spirit of giving back was very much appreciated.

This past week, CES has been busy preparing for our 3rd annual Holiday Door Decorating Contest. Each classroom transforms their door into different holiday and seasonal themes. Some choose to work as teams while others individually. Students create decorations and ornaments that demonstrate their skills from writing to reading and math. This year we welcomed members of the current class of the Coshocton Leadership foundation as our judges. They picked doors for the following categories: neatness, originality, student involvement, visual impact (best Individual door overall) and visual impact (team design). We are so proud of all of the staff and student’s hard work transforming our school into a winter wonderland. This year's winners are as follows: Neatness Award: 1st Grade Originality Award: Preschool, Multicategorical, Therapy Team Student Involvement Award: 4th Grade Visual Impact, Best Individual Door Overall Award: 6th Grade Mrs. Robbins Visual Impact, Team Design Award: Kindergarten Take some time to check out all of our school’s hard work on our CES Facebook page. www.facebook.com/CESRedskins/

Good Evening, This is an important message for the families of Coshocton City Schools. We were made aware of an issue with our daily, automated attendance system this afternoon that caused our automated call to not be placed if your child was marked absent in ProgressBook today. We have contacted both vendors that handle our automated system and a support ticket has been created to resolve the issue. We are hoping and anticipating that the issue will be resolved tomorrow. If your child is marked absent tomorrow in ProgressBook and the issue has not been resolved you will be receiving a live phone call. Please call the building office at either 740-622-9433 (CHS) or 740-622-5514 (CES) if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great evening.
