Dear Parents/Guardians, On April 8, the solar eclipse will pass through our area. Wanting to ensure the safety of our students and staff, Coshocton City Schools will be closed for the day. This closure is advised by local emergency services in anticipation of the significant number of visitors our area may receive during this rare celestial event. The eclipse will occur in Coshocton County between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM, with the closest approach to totality around 3:13 PM. Total solar eclipses are rare, with only 21 affecting the lower 48 states in U.S. history. The last eclipse visible in Ohio was in 1806, and the next won't be until 2099. This presents a unique opportunity for our Redskin families to witness this spectacular event safely. We strongly encourage the use of special solar viewing glasses to protect your eyes while enjoying the eclipse. For a detailed guide on safely viewing the eclipse, please visit NASA's eclipse safety page at science.nasa.gov/eclipses/safety/. Please reach out with any questions and as always ….. GO REDSKINS! Sincerely, Mark Kowalski Superintendent
